A 39-year-old man, Vijayakumar, whose wife and son were found dead in mysterious circumstances 10 days ago, jumped from a multi-storeyed residential building here on Tuesday. He was rushed to the Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) in a critical condition.

His wife Durga Devi (30) and son Sriram (6) were found dead at their house in Navarathinapuram under Teppakulam police station limits. Jewels weighing 10.5 sovereigns and Rs. 86,000 in cash were missing from the scene of crime.

Interrogation

Even as the police investigations were inconclusive, the sudden act of Vijayakumar has baffled the police. Vijayakumar, a tailor, was interrogated by the police along with other suspects. His relatives told the police that only in the afternoon, after getting permission to use the house, they were at the house on the first floor. While they were cleaning the house, Vijayakumar suddenly rushed out and jumped off.

As he had suffered injuries in the neck and head, he had been admitted to 101 Ward in the GRH. Teppakulam police are investigating.
