A 44-year-old man was arrested on Saturday along with his associate, for buying 24 air-conditioners and paying for them with a cheque of Rs. 8 lakh, which subsequently bounced.

Police said that K. Senthil, a resident of Madipakkam, has more than 35 cheating cases registered against him.

Last week, he bought 24 air-conditioners from an electronics shop in Royapettah. The total bill amounted to Rs. 8 lakh, and he handed in a cheque for this amount. However, when the owner of the shop, Rajan, deposited the cheque, it bounced.

Based on a complaint filed by Ranjan, the Nolambur police launched a hunt for Senthil.

On Saturday, the police arrested him and also found a godown in Sriram Nagar, Nolambur, where the entire consignment of air-conditioners had been kept.
