Makkal Nala Paniyalargal ‘beg' for reinstatement

As many as 136 Makkal Nala Paniyalargal, including 45 women, who are affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Government Employees Association in Tuticorin, were arrested here on Thursday. Appealing to the State government to obey the High Court's decree, which passed a verdict to reinstate the sacked workers, they staged a novel protest. They went around with a begging bowl at a few places in Tuticorin central. Later, the Tuticorin Central and South police arrested them near the Government Employees Association office here. The demonstration was led by Ramasubbu. The arrested were released later.

Makkal Nala Paniyalargal in the district also held a similar demonstration in and around Vadaserry bus stand. The district president, Gandhi led the agitation.
