MADURAI: The Chairman of Apollo Hospitals, Prathap C. Reddy, on Wednesday urged the Prime Minister to declare healthcare as an “infrastructure sector” and facilitate its growth for the benefit of the common man. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday during his visit to the Apollo Speciality Hospitals here, he said that the Central Government was not giving adequate focus to healthcare because of which the tremendous potential available in the field could not be explored fully.

“I plead with the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister to make healthcare an infrastructure area and step up investments. The employment potential too can be enhanced then,” Dr. Reddy said. He was here to attend the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Apollo Speciality Hospitals and to interact with doctors, staff and patients.
