Many areas in Cherry Road and Anaimedu go without water
SALEM: A major breach occurred on Friday morning, in the main pipeline that supplies water to a major portion of the city.
According to official sources, the breach had taken place near Sri Sugavaneshwarar Temple cutting the supply line to many areas of downtown in the city since early morning.
Many areas in Cherry Road, Anaimedu, Guhai, Maravaneri and Karunkalpati went without water.
A team of officials from the Corporation had already undertaken the repair work to plug the breach.
They said that the same would be completed this evening.
The areas falling under the jurisdictions of the overhead tanks at Guhai, Thongum Poonga and Karunkkalpatti in the city went without water.
The water supply, officials said, would be resumed from Saturday.
The civic body of late had been ensuring uniform water supply by attending various problems in the city.
