The mahasamprokshanam of Sri Srinivasa Perumal temple, at Athangothangudi village in Mudukulathur taluk of Ramanathapuram district, was performed on Wednesday.

The last samprokshanam for this 500-year-old temple was performed in the year 1997.

As part of the celebrations, the renovation works and painting were completed recently.

A separate ‘sannidhi’ for Lord Chakkarathalwar had been built by the temple trustees.

The presiding deity, Sri Srinivasa Perumal, along with consorts Sri Alamelu Manga and Padmasani Thayar, are adored for fulfilling the wishes of thousands of devotees from different parts of the State.

The deity is popularly known as ‘kurai theerkum perumal.’

The samprokshanam was witnessed by a large number of devotees in the presence of Rani Sethupathi R.B.K. Rajeswari of Ramanathapuram samasthanam, who is the hereditary trustee of the ancient temple, a press release issued here said.
