Madurai shooters right on target

The 22nd All India G. V. Mavlankar Shooting Championship was held at Delhi from November 4 to 11. Forty one shooters from various clubs in Tamil Nadu participated in the event. Tamil Nadu won a total of 16 medals including seven gold, five silver and four bronze.

Shooters from Madurai Rifle Club won three gold, five silver and two bronze medals. K. Nandakumar won two gold medals in the 50 m Peep Sight Rifle 3 position in the men and junior men category respectively. P. Ajaey Nithish won one gold in the 10 m Air Rifle in youth category and created a new meet record.

He also won two silvers in the 50m Peep Sight Rifle 3 position and 10 m Peep Sight Air Rifle in the Junior category respectively.

S. Diwagar Maria Jesuraj won two silver medals in the 25m Sports Pistol in the men and junior men category respectively and a bronze medal in the 25 m center fire pistol in the junior men category. C. Sam George Sajan won one bronze medal in the 50 m Open Sight Rifle 3 Position in the men's category.

In the women’s category, Varsha won a silver medal in the 50 m Peep Sight Rifle 3 Position.
