Eight judges to preside over court proceedings
MADURAI: The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court will reopen on June 12 after a 42-day summer vacation. Eight judges will preside over court proceedings on the reopening day.
While Justice F.M. Ibrahim Kalifulla and Justice P. Murugesen will hear public interest litigations, writ appeals, criminal appeals, habeas corpus petitions etc., Justice A.R. Ramalingam will take up civil appeals pending since 1997. Justice K. Mohan Ramwill hear writ petitions onland acquisitions, electricity board etc, and Justice P. Jyothimani on labour and service disputes.
Justice R. Regupathi will deal with bail, anticipatory bail, suspension of sentence and revision cases and Justice S. Tamilvanan will hear second appeals pending since 1993, besides a few appellate suits pending since 1988 for final disposal. Justice Makena Eswara Narasimha Patrudu has also been allotted the writ portfolio.
