CHENNAI: The Chennai Police have referred the speech of A.K. Ramasamy, Secretary, Madurai Bar Association, to the Law Department for its opinion on initiating criminal proceedings against the advocate for his inflammatory remarks made on March 19.
According to police sources, Mr. Ramasamy, while speaking at the culmination of the procession taken out by advocates here, made “objectionable” remarks against Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.
He said the Madurai Bar Association was imparting training in self-defence, martial arts and yoga to prepare the advocates to counter attack by the police. The association had also planned to arrange for free training in gun firing.
“We have referred his speech along with video recording to the Law Department. The speech copy will also be sent to the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court,” a senior police official said.
