A special lucky draw-cum-awareness programme has been introduced at the Ranee's Government Maternity Hospital here to prevent cervical and breast cancer.
Women patients with their female attendants undergo clinical breast examination and all the participants are eligible for a lucky draw. “Awareness programmes on cervical and breast cancer is organised every year in September and October. We organise a draw every week and the lucky person will get a prize,” says V.C.Subash Gandhi, coordinator, non-communicable disease wing of the Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project, which organises the draw.
Syed Mohideen, Joint Director of Health Services, said that information pamphlets are being distributed to participants to create awareness on the disease and prevention techniques. About 350 persons have participated in the contest this week till Wednesday. The draw would be held on Saturday.
