The State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) on Saturday urged domestic LPG consumers to submit their Aadhaar numbers to the respective banks in order to implement direct cash transfer for LPG consumers.
It has also decided to conduct special camps to provide Aadhaar cards to the consumers, who are yet to get them, in different parts of the Union Territory of Puducherry.
It was decided at a meeting convened here by V. Shantha, Zonal Manager, Indian Bank, who was also the convener of SLBC. Representative from banks and UIDAI participated in the meeting.
The meeting discussed the progress in opening of bank account, seeding of Aadhaar to bank accounts, direct transfer of subsidies through bank accounts and also the preparedness of banks for the proposed implementation of direct transfer of subsidy scheme for domestic LPG cylinders.
A press release said the domestic LPG consumers, who had bank accounts, should send the Aadhaar number to the respective accounts. They should send photo copies of Aadhaar number intimation letter clearly and correctly mentioning the bank account details to the concerned bank branches or to the Lead District Manager, Indian Bank, Zonal Office, Kamaraj Salai in Puducherry.
They can also submit them at the drop boxes kept in bank premises and ATM centres. Consumers, who were yet to open bank accounts, should open it immediately so as to receive the subsidy and other benefits given by the government through banks.
For implementing direct cash transfer of the subsidy for cylinders
