: In a case of highway robbery, a lorry driver and cleaner were attacked by a four-member gang and relieved of Rs 25, 000 and mobile phones in the early hours of Wednesday. The Madurai Rural police said that the lorry, driven by Kaladhar of Kerala, was proceeding to Coimbatore from Tuticorin when it was intercepted by the gang near Sambakulam at around 3 a.m.

The gang attacked the driver and cleaner and relieved them of the money and mobile phones. They have been admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital for treatment of injuries. The Tirumangalam Taluk police registered a case.
