The Tamil Nadu Government has announced a local holiday for Vellore district on May 15, to enable the public and the State government employees to participate in the ‘Sirasu’ festival to be held at the Gangaiamman Temple in Gudiyatham on that day.

May 25 working day

According to a release from the Collector of Vellore district, in lieu of May 15, May 25 (Saturday) would be a working day for all State government offices in the district, while May 26 (Sunday) would be a working day for the employees of the government printing presses.

Since the local holiday is not a holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881, treasuries and subtreasuries would work with skeleton staff to transact urgent security-related government business, the release said.
