: Condemning the alleged police attack on a news photographer during a temple festival at Mondaicaud on Tuesday night, members of Nellai Press Club staged a demonstration here on Thursday.

When the photographer of a Tamil daily was taking pictures during the ‘odukku puja’ of Mondaicaud Bhagavathi Amman Temple on Tuesday night as part of his assignment, he accidentally stepped on the foot of a policeman on duty, which triggered an altercation between the two. Suddenly, a group of policemen surrounded the photographer, allegedly thrashed him and damaged his camera.

The entire sequence of the attack, videographed by a devotee, was submitted to the Superintendent of Police, Kanyakumari, N. Manivannan, who assured the reporters that action would be taken soon.
