MADURAI: Left parties have planned a rail roko at Madurai railway junction during the one-day bandh called by them on Saturday.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) urban district secretary, R. Annadurai, said that the party cadres had been talking to traders and representatives of trade bodies seeking their fullest cooperation for the total strike proposed against the fuel price hike.
Stating that he was hopeful of bus services remaining paralysed with the support of transport employees’ trade unions, Mr. Annadurai said that the CPI (M), Communist Party of India, and the All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) cadres had planned a rail roko to put on record their objection to the price increase in petroleum products.
The bandh would be peaceful with the support of the common man, Mr. Annadurai said.
The AIFB (Dinakaran) faction has pledged its support to the bandh.
