THANJAVUR: Former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai considered education as a basic tool for improvement of the Tamil race and not merely as a means to get employment, said S. Muthusamy, former head of the Tamil department, H.H. The Rajah’s College, Pudukottai, here recently.

Delivering a lecture on Anna’s education philosophy at Tamil University as part of Anna centenary seminar organised by the Philosophy department of the university, Prof. Muthusamy said that Annadurai firmly believed that education alone could relieve people from superstitions, free them from the clutches of upper castes, provide self-respect and instil rationalisation.
