On role of teachers in the emerging scenario of privatisation

YERCAUD: Focusing on the role and responsibility of teachers in the emerging scenario of privatisation, the Association of University Teachers (AUT) – Tamil Nadu conducted two-day leadership training programme at the Montfort Anglo Indian HSS campus on February 27 and 28.

P. Jayagandhi, President and S. Panneerselvam, Secretary, spoke on the objectives of the camp and its theme.

N. Senthamarai presided over the meeting in which 200 teachers from various universities in Tamil Nadu took part.

Salem Periyar University Vice Chancellor M. Thanagaraju inaugurated the camp in which he asked the teachers to bridge the gap between student and teacher.

A dynamic teacher-taught relationship should be evolved.

The participants also discussed the whole gamut of the higher education under six topics – from globalisation to professional ethics.

South India Secretary, All India Federation of Elementary Teachers' Organisation V Annadurai delivered valedictory address.

The participants decided to fight for inclusive education challenging its commodification in the current scenario.
