‘The public is facing difficulties owing to the
State-wide strike by lawyers’
Tirupur: Lawyers affiliated to Tirupur Bar Association have decided to make an appeal to Federation of District and Subordinate Courts Bar Associations of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to reconsider its decision of ‘continuing the strike indefinitely.’
The decision was made during the general body meeting of the TBA held here on Monday.
A .S. Shanmugasundaram, President, Tirupur Bar Association, told The Hindu on Tuesday that the association would request the Federation of District and Subordinate Courts Bar Assocaitions of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to arrive at a conclusion on the appeal only with the consent of other member Bar Associations. “We are making the appeal considering the difficulties faced by the public owing to the indefinite state-wide strike observed by lawyers following the incidents that took place on Madras High Court premises on February 19,” he added.
M. Sathiyanarayanan, Secretary, Tirupur Bar Association, said that the lawyers from here would take part in the rally scheduled in Chennai on March 19 demanding action against the police officials involved in the brutal attack on the lawyers on the High Court premises.
