More than 1,500 students of the Arignar Anna Government Arts College on the Mohanur Road in Namakkal boycotted classes on Wednesday and joined hands with the Students Federation of India (SFI) to extend their support to the cause of Tamils in Sri Lanka.

District Secretary of SFI A.T. Kannan said that SFI will strongly oppose the United State of America’s resolution against Sri Lanka in the United Nations.

Students and SFI cadres who took part in a demonstration in front of the college on Wednesday morning raised slogans urging the Government of India to put forward a resolution in the United Nations, seeking its support to conduct enquire the Sri Lankan President in the International Court to get justice for the crimes committed there.

Other demands were to urge the Union Government of India to ensure that the surviving war victims (Tamils) in that country enjoyed equal rights, justice, security and status in Sri Lanka.
