CHENNAI: Revenue officials visited Koyambedu on Wednesday to identify lands to be acquired for construction of the grade separator at Koyambedu junction.
Photographs of residents whose lands are going to be acquired were taken and the officials verified their ration cards.
They also assessed the number of buildings that will be demolished. With the acquisition being made into a political issue, a police posse was on hand to provide security for the officials.
The grade separator, which will be constructed by the National Highways Authority of India, is designed to decongest the busy Koyambedu area where the Inner Ring Road cuts across the EVR Periyar (Poonamallee High) Road.
