Dharmapuri: Minister for Environment Mohideen Khan handed over land documents worth Rs.3.66 crores under the two-acre land scheme to 1,307 beneficiaries at Harur on Friday.

The total extent of land distributed is 1,141 acres. In the last four phases, a total of 7,143 acres of land were distributed to 10,143 landless agricultural families in Dharmapuri district, he said.

The Minister also distributed free house site pattas to 1,531 persons who were living on ‘poromboke’ land for the past 10 years. A total of 1,03,485 acres of land were distributed to landless poor in the State in the last four phases.

At the function, Collector Pankaj Kumar Bansal said that the construction of a multi-purpose indoor stadium in Dharmapuri district was nearing completion. The stadium would come up at an outlay of Rs.90 lakhs under public-private partnership. Besides this, taluk-level sports stadiums would be set up at Harur and Pennagaram at an outlay of Rs.30 lakhs under public-private partnership.

The stadiums would come up on an expanse of five acres each. The district administration has selected Solakottai village near here for establishment of Rural Sports Development Centre. District Revenue Officer R. Nagarajan, MLAs P. Dilli Babu, P.N. Periyannan participated.
