Collector K. Nanthakumar has said that the district administration had acquired land to construct building for the District Music School which was functioning in a rented building.

Speaking at the annual day function of the music school here on Thursday, the Collector said that the school run by the Department of Art and Culture had provided a rare opportunity to the youths of the district to learn music. The students were given free bus pass and a monthly assistance of Rs. 400, he said.

Stating that art, literature and music made men perfect, the Collector said that people of the district with interest in music could join the school irrespective of their age and educational qualifications.

Headmaster P. Suresh said that the school had been functioning in a rented building ever since it was started in 2000. The school had a strength of 101 students.
