ERODE: Lack of a proper access road has put people living in the Samathuvapuram located near Chithode into untold hardships.
The State government had formed a road to connect the Samathuvapuram with other parts while constructing the houses in the colony. But the road was demolished during the four-laning of National Highways 47.
“Authorities had promised that a new access road would be formed after completing the four-laning of National Highways. But they failed to fulfil their promise. We are now forced to use a mud road to reach our homes,” residents say.
People had already taken this issue to the notice of officials of National Highways Authority of India, State highways department and the district administration. “Our pleas fell on deaf ears. We are yet to receive any response from the officials,” people said. People find it very difficult to travel on the mud road. “The situation becomes worse during the rains,” residents complain.
