Records highest pass percentage in the State

Kanyakumari district created history by recording the highest pass percentage in the State in the SSLC examination for the first time. The 97.24 pass percentage it has registered is 5.12 percent higher than the pass percentage recorded last year.

Three girls — all district toppers — shared the state third rank, and four students, including two boys, stood third in the state and district second in the SSLC examination.

B.Fathima Sameem and Franila F.Joseph of St.Joseph Convent Higher Secondary School in Nagercoil and C.N.Koushami of Evans Matric Higher Secondary School in Nagercoil are the district’s top scorers with 497.

Fathima has scored 98 marks in Tamil, 99 marks in English and 100 marks each in Mathematics, Science and Social Science.

Similarly, Franila has scored 98 marks in Tamil, 99 in English, 100 marks each in Mathematics, Science and Social Science, and Koushami has got 97 marks in Tamil, 99 marks in English and100 marks each in Mathematics, Science and Social Science.

All the three students, who want to become doctors to serve the poor, thanked the teachers and their parents.

M. D.Abinesh of Carmel Higher Secondary School, R.Anbu Mathi of Evans Higher Secondary School, P.Sajeev of Carmel Higher Secondary School in Nagercoil and J.Jeya Jenisha Anis of Bethlahem Matric Higher Secondary School at Karungal share the state third rank.

These four students bagged the second rank in the district by scoring 496 marks.

The district third rank is shared by six students — N.Amirthavarshini of Sacred Heart Matric Higher Secondary School, Azagappapuram, A.Arulious Jora of Alphonsa Matric Higher Secondary School, A.Christinal of St Joseph Convent Matric Higher Secondary School, S.Fareetha Fowzana of St.Joseph Convent Higher Secondary School, Nabeesathul Mariam Nushha of St Joseph Convent Higher Secondary School and R.Shineefa Languvin of St Joseph Convent Higher Secondary School — who have scored 495 marks.

A total of 27,740 students, including 13,651 boys, appeared for the examinations in the district.

Of them, 26,974 students passed.
