State Government should cooperate with Centre: Congress
: The Central Government is keen on launching the Kudankulam nuclear power project and State Government should extend cooperation for its functioning, according to R. Dhanuskodi Athithan, former Union Minister.
He was leading a demonstration on Monday organised by the Congress to press for the early commissioning of the nuclear project.
Addressing the media, he said that initially 1000 megawatt power would be produced from December this year and its production capacity would be increased gradually.
“People need not fear since the project is being engineered with technological advancements. Without electricity, people are suffering day and night and commissioning of this project is the need of the hour. Unfortunately, people and fisher folk are being only misled by some elements to halt the project,” he said.
S. Justin, district president, Tuticorin south, P, Kathirvel, Tuticorin north, A.PC.V. Shanmugam, All India Congress Committee Member, S.D.R. Vijayaseelan, Pradesh Congress Committee, C.S. Muralidharan, Town Congress president, and other cadres raised slogans demanding the operation of the project.
