MADURAI: Members of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) staged a demonstration here on Tuesday condemning the killing of two Dalits at Senthatti near Sankarankovil in Tirunelveli district and demanded that the persons involved in the murder be booked under the Goondas Act.
R. Pandiammal, district secretary, VCK, led the protest demanding the State Government to revoke the detention of 26 VCK members booked under the Goondas Act. They insisted that the encroachments at Vandiyur Theerthakadu be removed and the land given back to Dalits.
They condemned the State Government for invoking National Security Act against Periyar Dravida Kazhagam leader Kolathur Mani. Similar protests were held across the State, said Ms. Pandiammal.
