ERODE: Four persons were killed in three separate accidents in the district on Sunday.

In the first incident at B.P. Agraharam, Erode, a water tanker killed cyclist Krishnasamay, around 60, and pedestrian Srinivasalu.

The Karungalpalayam police said when the lorry driver tried not hitting the cyclist, he lost control and hit the cyclist.

In the impact, the lorry fell on its side and killed the pedestrian.

While the pedestrian died on the spot, the cyclist died a few hours later at the hospital.

The police have registered a case and are investigating.

In the second incident at Ramapylavoor, near Sathyamangalam, the driver of a lorry carrying paddy to Trissur from Kollegal, lost control of the vehicle and was caught beneath the lorry as it fell on its side.

In the incident that happened around 4.30 a.m., he died on the spot.

The Sathyamangalam police have registered a case.

In the third incident near Chennimalai, panchayat member of Sivanmalai Palanisamy (45), was killed when a mini-lorry knocked him down.

The lorry was proceeding to Chennimalai and Palanisamy was on his way to Kangayam after attending a wedding there.

A case has been registered in this connection.
