13 schools, including a Government school, register centum pass
KARUR: There was perceptible concern and disappointment in education circles that enough students from Karur district were not ranked among toppers in the State in the Plus Two exams results which were declared on Friday. The district scored an overall pass percentage of 90.
A total of 7,277 students of the 8,101 boys and girls who took the exams were declared pass. While 3,344 of the 3,825 boys pass giving a percentage of 87.4, 3,933 of the 4,276 girls got through constituting a pass percentage of 92.
A total of 13 schools including the Government Higher Secondary School, Tennilai got 100 per cent pass.
In the individual performances, R. Prasanna of Cheran Matriculation Higher Secondary School tallied 1,181 out of a possible 1,200 to top the district followed by his schoolmate A. Yahiya who scored 2 marks less to bag the runnerup part. The third position in the district went to D. R. Gunaa Balaji of P. A. Vidhya Bhavan who totalled 1,178.
R. Karthika of Pasupatheeswara Municipal Girl's Higher Secondary School topped the State in history scoring 199 out of 200. K. Sneha of P. A. Vidhya Bhavan scored 197 to top the State in Tamil paper.
In the Government School's category, T. Dinesh of Government Higher Secondary School K. Paramathi won the first place scoring 1,038 followed by R. Karthika of Pasupatheeswara Municipal Girl's Higher Secondary School who scored 1,128 and K. Karthikeyan of Government Higher Secondary School K. Paramathi for a score of 1,127.
In the aided schools category, P. R. Saraswathi of St. Theresa's Girl's Higher Secondary School, Karur, tallied 1,152 followed by T. M. F. Zulfiya Farhana of Uzzwatul Hazana Oriental Arabic Girl's Higher Secondary School, Pallapatti who scored 1,138. Her schoolmate A. K. Hajara Banu scored 1,137 to bag the third position.
