: Besides demanding hike in the relief announced to the Cauvery delta farmers, DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Tuesday wanted the State government to take an immediate decision on granting relief to farmers in other districts.

In a statement here, he said though Chief Minister Jayalalithaa declared all districts barring Chennai as drought-hit areas and announced Rs 13,692 per acre as relief, “no relief has been announced for other districts so far. Moreover, crop insurance scheme could not be fully implemented in Madurai, Sivaganga, Kanyakumari, amanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Coimbatore and Tirupur because of the failure of the officials to assess the situation,” he said.
