CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Tuesday questioned All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Jayalalithaa's locus standi in the court issue and recalled instances of her criticising courts and judges.

In a statement, he recalled a speech made by Ms. Jayalalithaa in the Assembly. She had said that judges, regardless of whether they were in the High Court or any court, were human.

She had gone on to say that judges too had likes and dislikes.

"Sometimes judges speak things they are not supposed to. If we speak in the same vein, then contempt of court proceedings will be initiated against us. But judges can speak anything," she had said.

There were many examples of attacks of the former Chief Minister on the judiciary, Mr. Karunanidhi said.
