Various functions held at schools

KRISHNAGIRI/DHARMAPURI: the birth day of former Chief Minister Kamaraj as education development day in all the schools in Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri district on Wednesday.

In Dharmapuri, Collector P. Amutha presided over the functions at the Avvaiyar Government Girls Higher Secondary School and Illakkiampatti Government Higher Secondary School.

She said that the late Kamaraj dedicated his life for the welfare of society. He was instrumental in laying a strong base for primary education in the state.

He introduced the mid-day meal scheme in schools for poor children.

Earlier, she lighted a lamp and offered floral tributes to the portrait of Kamaraj at the schools.

Debate

A debate on child marriage was held at the Ilakkiampatti Government Higher Secondary School. Ms. Amutha gave away prizes to students the children who had participated in various competitions.

N.K. Rajarajan, Chief Education Officer welcomed the gathering. S. Suganya, Chief Education Officer (SSA) spoke.

N. Thirunavukkarasu, District Elementary Education Officer proposed a vote of thanks.

Later, Ms. Amutha gave away appointment orders to 114 secondary grade teachers at the Avvaiyar Government Girls Higher Secondary School.

In Krishnagiri, the Education Development Day and Kamaraj birth day was celebrated in all the government and aided schools.

Collector V.K. Shanmugam gave away Rs. 85,000 as prize to 12 government school students who stood first and second in SSLC and Plus-Two at a function held at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Krishnagiri.
