Out of 21 proposals sent to the Southern Railways seeking permission to lay pipelines below railway crossings, joint inspection by the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board and Southern Railways have been completed for 14 proposals.
According to TWAD Board officials, the joint inspection was conducted and bottlenecks were solved for 14 proposals, while the railways was in the process of studying the remaining proposals.
Similarly, TWAD Board was seeking permission from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for laying pipelines on the national highway.
Out of the 112 km, permission has been granted for 14 km.
Meanwhile, permission was also sought for 12 km of National Highways. TWAD Board has deposited Rs. 72 lakh towards restoration charges.
Land has been obtained at Komburankadu and Palakkanur in Salem district for construction of sumps of 90-lakh-litre capacity each. A Government Order for acquiring land for constructing sump at P. Muthampatti in Dharmapuri district has been issued and awaits gazette notification, while a G.O. for acquiring land at Kadathur was under process, TWAD Board officials said.
