Ten lakh people will be benefitted from the Unemployed Youth Employment Programme (UYEGP) directly and indirectly in Tamil Nadu during the Eleventh Plan period, according to Collector C.N. Maheswaran.
It would help the unemployed set up enterprises including manufacturing and other commercial establishments by availing loans to a maximum of Rs. 5 lakh with 15 per cent subsidy of the project cost.
Financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakh would be provided towards project cost for manufacturing sector and Rs. 3 lakh for service sector and Rs. 1 lakh for business sector. Any individual with 18 years of age and above with a ceiling of family income up to Rs. 1,50, 000 per annum could benefit from the programme.
Dr. Maheswaran appealed to the unemployed to utilise this opportunity. Economically viable manufacturing service and business activities excluding direct agricultural operations like raising crops, etc., would be covered under this programme.
District Industries Centre will be the implementing agency to render assistance. Those interested can obtain application forms free of cost and submit with details necessary along with copies of certificates in proof of educational qualifications, nativity, community, etc., to General Manager, District Industries Centre, Tuticorin.
