TAMBARAM: Gold jewellery, gift articles, cash and other valuables totally worth around Rs.3 lakh were stolen from one of the houses in Ramapuram Gardens that once belonged to former Chief Minister M.G.Ramachandran.

The burglary came to light on Monday morning.

Chennai Suburban Police sources said Mani, brother of Janaki Ramachandran, wife of former Chief Minister M.G.Ramachandran, was living with his five daughters in the house. One of the daughters was Geeth Madhu Mohan. Her son Anand got married on December 20. On December 25, Anand, his wife and his close relatives left for Kerala and returned to Ramapuram on Monday morning.

The locks were found intact. When they opened the locks and entered the house, they noticed jewellery and valuables that had been gifted by relatives and guests, missing. The stolen valuables are reported to be worth Rs.3 lakh. Police said the missing valuables were mostly gifts that were received during Anand’s wedding.

Special police teams are making investigations.
