CHENNAI: A jewellery shop owner was allegedly robbed of 115 grams of gold jewellery and Rs.3.2 lakh cash by a gang in Porur on Sunday night.

According to police sources, Mahavir (32), who owns a jewellery shop in Valasaravakkam, was returning home on a moped around 10.30 p.m. on Sunday when the suspects who were standing near his house attacked and robbed him. The victim was taken to a private hospital, where his condition was said to be stable.

The Chennai Suburban Police Commissioner S.R. Jangid has formed three special teams to investigate the case, the sources added.
