Paid wealth tax, income tax and has no dues

THENI: Chief Minister and Andipatti assembly constituency candidate Jayalalithaa on Saturday filed her nomination papers with the Returning Officer for Andipatti constituency here.

She stated her assets, properties and investments, valued at Rs. 25.35 crore, and three cases pending against her in which cognisance has been taken by the courts in Annexure-I submitted along with her nomination papers.

She declared cash of Rs. 20,000, five cars, about Rs. 2 crore in deposits in banks, financial institutions and non-banking financial companies, and Rs. 50,000 as bonds, debentures and shares in companies.

The value of jewellery seized by police and given to the custody of the court was not determinable.

Ms. Jayalalithaa has houses, commercial buildings and agriculture lands in Chennai and Andhra Pradesh worth Rs. 11.65 crore. Her share in Jaya Publications and in Sasi Enterprises is about Rs. 11 crore. She has paid wealth tax and income tax and has no dues. Three case were pending before her.

In CC no. 7/97 on the file of 11th special judge Chennai, now transferred to 36th Additional Session Judge in Bangalore in CC no. 208 of 2004.

Cognisance was taken u/s 120-b IPC r/w 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (e) of P.C. Act 1988.

In CC no.2 2001 was also transferred to Bangalore in the above court and numbered as CC.No.209/2004. Cognisance of this case was taken u/s 120 B, r/w section 13(2) and 13 (1) (3) of PC Act 1988.

Before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate-I, CC Nos 161/96, 202/97, 203/97 and 263/97 are pending. Cognizance in these cases was taken under u/s 276 CC of the Income Tax Act. No appeal was made as these cases are pending trial.
