The Joint Action Council of the Annamalai University Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Associations has decided to erect a memorial pillar to commemorate the “far-reaching historical changes” brought about by the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in the university administration.

The JAC that met here, with its coordinator R. Udaiachandran in the chair, to celebrate May Day passed a resolution to this effect on Wednesday. A statement issued by the JAC stated that such a transformation in the university administration could be possible only because of the determined resolve of the Chief Minister.

Mr. Udaiachandran said that it would be mostly a sort of a “victory pillar” signifying the fruition of the long-standing struggle of the JAC to streamline the functioning of the university and to rid the management of corruption. It would come up at the round-about near the administrative block of the university, he said. Already, the JAC has put up a massive flex board on the university campus thanking the Chief Minister.
