A one-day training programme on Information Technology was held here on January 28 for the head masters of all the 27 Corporation schools by American Indian Foundation (AIF), a non-profit organisation, which works across India in the education field.
This project is part of ‘Digital Equaliser’ (DE) Programme - for which the Coimbatore Corporation had inked a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (2012-15) with the Foundation. It covers all the 10 high schools, 16 higher secondary schools and the one special school run by the civic body.
According to V. Alexander, zonal coordinator (DE programme) of the Foundation, the training focussed on use of MS Word, MS Excel and Tamil fonts besides creating files in Tamil language for official purposes.
The training programme was held at Corporation Higher Secondary School in Manikarampalayam where a hi-tech ‘Dell-connected’ Smart Classroom equipped with a touch screen digital board, projector, 25 laptops and three years of unlimited broadband connectivity was inaugurated recently.
A demonstration on the use of digital board was also held for these head masters.
