Administration has suffered a setback

CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa on Tuesday said issues such as power cut, spiralling cost of essential commodities, closure of industrial estates, retrenchment of lakhs of workers, stagnation in the IT and industrial sector, revenue deficit and deterioration of law and order had proved that the administration in the Tamil Nadu had suffered a setback.

Reacting to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s allegation that she was indulging in a diatribe against him, she said in a statement as general secretary of the AIADMK and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly it was her duty to explain the real situation to people.

Ms. Jayalalithaa said had the DMK heeded her advice and withdrawn its support to the Congress-led UPA government, a ceasefire in Sri Lanka could have been achieved.
