Physical disability is no barrier for this athlete who has brought several laurels for the State and country. R. Badri Narayanan, an international athlete and badminton player, has done India proud by winning in international events like DSE British Open Athletics 2005, held in Manchester, England and the first Asia Cup Badminton Championship 2004, Malaysia, apart from several national events.

Now, he has earned another opportunity to make a mark in the international stage by being selected to represent the country in International German Athletics Championship, 2006, to be held at Levenrkusen, Germany, in August.

However, he has to cough up Rs.75,000 to make it to the Championship, which would also be the selection games for Beijing World Championship, 2008. The athlete says that he has to raise the money himself, as the Sports Authority of India does not provide funds for open championships.

He looks to philanthropists to enable him make the trip. Donations by cheque or Demand Draft, drawn in the name of Paralympics Committee of India, payable at Bangalore, can be sent to R. Badri Narayanan, 4/169 Sudandira Nagar, Y. Othakadai, Madurai 625 107 (Phone 98946 75537).
