To help small tax payers

ERODE: The Income Tax Department will launch help centres at three places in the district for the benefit of the "small tax payers."

The Joint Commissioner, Income Tax, Erode, S. Ravindranath told presspersons that they will come up at Amman Comples on Mettur Road, SPS Complex in Kangeyam and on Modachur road at Gobichettipalayam.

He said that an official belonging to the department would remain at the centre to give guidance to the taxpayers.

It will not function as a centre to redress grievances. Officials will provide details on concessions available for taxpayers.

Prompt remittance

Mr. Ravindranath said that Erode was one of the centre in the country where income tax was remitted promptly. During the last year, Rs. 90 crore and odd had been received.

This year it will go up by at least 20 per cent. He said that all the three centres would function on all working days for four hours in the afternoon for two months, Mr. Ravindranath said.
