Demanding regular supply of drinking water, residents of Ramapuram in Kadayampatti block in Omalur Taluk picketed the Collectorate with empty pots during the weekly grievance meeting here on Monday.

They alleged that drinking water was supplied to them once in 10 days which is also not regular.

Though a water tank is present, pumping of water from the bore well is not carried out regularly leaving the villagers to search for water from nearby areas.

Carrying empty pots in their hands, villagers and members of self-help group raised slogans that erratic drinking water affects their livelihood as they have to keep searching for water instead of attending work.

They alleged that in spite of repeated representations to the authorities concerned, no action was taken by them as villagers continue to suffer.

Villagers demanded that drinking water be supplied regularly to their villagers so that they could carry out their regular activities. Later, they submitted the petition to the collector K. Maharabushanam who assured to take suitable actions.
