They demand action against bus crew

DINDIGUL: Parents along with their wards, mostly school going children, picketed Palani-Dindigul Main Road on Wednesday strongly condemning the act of a corporation bus crew who pushed the school children out of the crowded bus near Palani by-pass to reduce the crowd.

Traffic was disrupted for an hour on this road. Vehicles were stranded on both directions of the main road.

The parents alleged that the bus conductor had ordered the students, who boarded at Paraipatti including girls, to get off the bus near the Palani by-pass. The children requested the conductor to permit them to travel till Dindigul bus stand that there was no time for them to wait for another bus. Brushing aside their fervent plea, the conductor rudely pushed the children from the crowded bus. Several children fell on the road and one girl student got injured.

With no time to go to the school that were three km away from the by-pass, the children got back home on foot and complained to their parents.

In a fit of anger, parents along with local people blocked the road demanding action against the bus crew.

Students residing in Kottapatti, Paraipatti and Naidupuram have been boarding the bus at Paraipatti to reach various schools in the town. Several drivers of town buses operated by Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation Limited did not stop buses at Paraipatti. Some conductors who permitted the students to board the bus, forced them to alight at Palani by-pass bus stand, they alleged.

“It had happened on July 16. We lodged a complaint to the TNSTC officials and with Thadikombu police station for action. Both officials and police assured to take steps. The same children were exposed to such violent action within 15 days, they charged. Officials and the police rushed to the spot and again assured to take steps.
