General public should remain vigilant about various modus operandi adopted by the fraudsters, bank personnel and public should keep an eye on damage or loss to public property, said Commissioner of Police P.Balasubramanian .

He was delivering a special address at the Vigilance Week function held at the Regional Office of the Indian Overseas Bank. K.V.Krishnan, IOB Chief Regional Manager, presided over the event and explained about the various mechanisms available at the bank to redress the complaints of the customers.

Vigilance week is observed every year as per the instructions of the Central Vigilance Commission during the third week of October starting from 25 {+.} The objective is to avoid corruption and to generate awareness among the public about the need to weed out corruption and ensure transparency in administration.

Southern Railway's Madurai Division also observed the week. The week commenced with a pledge administered by A.K.Goel, Divisional Railway Manager, to eradicate corruption and bring about transparency in all the services provided the institution.

Dangers of corruption

He said the main objective of the week was to educate the staff about the dangers of corruption.
