The Indian Overseas Bank, as part of its platinum jubilee celebrations here on Thursday, launched the Sampoorna Scheme in six villages, to ensure total development of the villages.

The scheme was launched at Vadagudi village, Nagore branch; Mozhaiyur village, Mayiladuthurai main; Sembiyanallur village, Poonthottam branch; Ayakaranpulam Sethi II village, Ayakaranpulam branch; and Moongilkudi village, Nannilam branch.

Under Financial Literacy and Credit Counselling Centre Scheme, (FLCCC), centres christened as “Sneha” have been established in Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur. According to a bank release, these centres were started to provide services in financial products, financial education, financial counselling, financial debt restructuring, financial investment, along with information on formal financial institutions available in the district. IOB has appointed personnel to coordinate with banks, the government, customers, NGOs, and other stakeholders at the centres . S.Inbamoorthy (Mobile: 9486467094) for Nagapattinam, P.Manohar (Mobile: 9442778618) for Tiruvarur are the designated coordinators , the release said.

Additionally, a Rural Self – Employment Training Institute (RSETI) is slated to function from Mayiladuthurai. The RSETI, implemented by the district lead bank proposes to train over 1,000 people annually, with NABARD bearing over 50 percent of training cost for rural youth below poverty line.

According to the release, Sankara Narayanan, Senior Regional Manager, IOB has urged all branches to implement village-centric developmental schemes throughout the year marking the platinum jubilee celebrations.

A new branch was launched at Sembanakoil, also marking one of the 75 new branches and ATMs launched throughout the country by the IOB.
