A host of events were organised in the city in the past week by the Coimbatore Division of the Life Insurance Corporation of India to mark the Insurance Week.

The first week of September is observed annually as ‘Insurance Week’ to commemorate the founding of LIC, which completed 57 years this year.

In a statement issued here, J. Chakrapani, Senior Divisional Manager, Coimbatore Division, said that a seminar on heart diseases was organised on September 3 along with competitions for school students. Students from seven management colleges in the city were invited to give presentations on ‘water conservation and health awareness’. Further, LIC staff also went to the Isha Vidya School in Thondamuthur and distributed sweets and education materials to the students.

An eye camp was organised in collaboration with the Sankara Eye Foundation. All the LIC branches also celebrated ‘Agents Day’ during which agents were honoured.

Mr. Chakrapani said that the Coimbatore division, comprising Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur and the Nilgiris districts, had 28.41 lakh policy holders.
