Twenty five-year-old S. Ramachandran of Tiruvannamalai, who is a remand prisoner in the Central Prison, Vellore, having been arrested in four theft cases, died on Saturday morning.

According to prison sources, Ramachandran complained of toothache after brushing his teeth in the morning. He was immediately taken to the hospital within the prison and given first aid. But soon he fainted and fell down.

He was rushed to the Government Vellore Medical College Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The Judicial Magistrate, Vellore conducted an enquiry into the death of the inmate.
