Coimbatore: The Corporation Zoo Director and Veterinarian, S. Thirukkumaran, on Monday with the help of officials from the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) treated a stray horse that was hit by a vehicle in Race Course.

People who had horse drawn carts are in the habit of abandoning the horses when they become sick and old.

Following information from the public about the injured horse, Inspector of SPCA, J. Fredric Vimalan on instructions from Collector, V. Palanikumar removed the horse to the road side and Dr.Thirukkumaran began the treatment. It was found to be a hip injury. The injured animal was given medicines and was kept under observation.
