The body of a female baby was found inside a garbage bin near a private marriage hall at Appavu Nagar in Dharmapuri town on Monday morning. The body was found wrapped with a cloth and placed inside a carry bag. Neighbours, who saw the dogs dragging the body, informed the police. The body has been sent to Government Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Further investigations are on.

Man murdered

Rajamanickam (46), a DMK cadre of SMC Colony near Kitchipalayam, was murdered by two persons when the victim was returning home after welcoming DMK Treasurer M.K. Stalin on Sunday night. Kitchipalayam police said that the murder was over previous enmity. According to the police, Rajamanickam had a dispute with Gnanasundaram, an autorickshaw driver of Salem. “The two attacked each after which a case was registered against both of them. Preliminary investigations revealed that Rajamanickam was on the way to his house on Sunday night when Gnanasundaram and his accomplice Kamal attacked him. He died on the spot. Both the accused were arrested on Monday and sent to remand”, the police added.

House burgled

About 25 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs. 15,000 were stolen from the house of Raja, a government schoolteacher, at Alagapuram Water Board Colony here. Fairlands Police said that the incident occurred when he went to his hometown in Tuticorin district with his family for the puja holidays.
