Indian Bank has got a new facility – an account portability feature with an in-built Core Banking Software for the transfer of deposit accounts from one branch to another.

This, according to a press release, enables the customer to have the freedom of operating his/her account from any of the branches. The customer can shift his/her account to any of the desired branch any number of times, without any change in the account number, with just a change in home branch code.

Request letter

Customer can approach either home branch or the transferee branch with a request letter for transfer of account. Home branch having the customer's account, certifies the KYC documents while transferring the account to another branch.

Supporting documents for new address, contact number etc should be given to the transferee branch by the customer before requesting for a fresh cheque book. Existing unused cheque leaves have to be surrendered to the home branch. Fresh cheque book will be issued at the transferee branch.

Account portability is done in the system within minutes and is hassle-free.
